Which solution suits you?

An implant is a titanium screw that replaces the tooth root. A crown, a bridge or a denture is attached to it, depending on how many teeth are missing.

  • One missing tooth

A single implant with a crown. The neighbouring teeth are left untouched, unlike with a bridge.

  • Several missing teeth

Two or more implants supporting a bridge. Stable, fixed and easy to keep clean.

  • No teeth in the jaw

A fixed bridge on several implants, or an overdenture that clips onto implants and stays firmly in place.

Frequently asked questions about dental implants

How much do dental implants cost?

The price depends on how many teeth need replacing, the quality of the jawbone and which crown is chosen. That is why we always start with a free consultation, where you get a clear cost estimate before any decision is made. An interest-free payment plan is available.

How does implant treatment work?

First a consultation and a 3D X-ray. Then a titanium screw (fixture) is placed in the jawbone under local anaesthetic. After a healing period, an abutment and a crown made to match your other teeth are attached. We follow up afterwards.

How long does the treatment take?

From consultation to finished tooth usually takes three to six months, depending on how quickly the jawbone heals around the implant. The surgery itself usually takes one to two hours.

Does it hurt?

The surgery is done under local anaesthetic, and most people describe it as less unpleasant than they expected. It may feel tender for a few days afterwards, and over-the-counter painkillers are usually enough. If you are anxious, we can give you a sedative before the appointment.

How long does an implant last?

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, an implant can last for many years, often for the rest of your life. The crown on top may need replacing after 10–15 years. Smoking and untreated gum disease increase the risk of complications.

Can everyone get implants?

Most adults can. It is important that you are healthy, but patients with well-managed medical conditions can also get implants. Old age is rarely an obstacle. What matters is the amount and quality of the jawbone and your general health, which we assess with a 3D X-ray at the consultation. If bone is missing, it can often be built up.

Why should I not wait too long?

When a tooth is missing, the bone where the root used to be no longer gets any stimulation and can slowly disappear. An implant stimulates the bone and preserves bone volume. The longer you wait, the greater the risk that there will not be enough bone to anchor an implant. Even when the jawbone has shrunk a lot, there are techniques today to make implants stable. In a jaw with no teeth, six implants are often placed in the upper jaw and four in the lower jaw, depending on the quality of the bone.

Implant or bridge?

An implant is a gentler, longer-lasting and usually better-looking alternative to a bridge. A bridge is supported by the teeth in front of and behind the gap, so the dentist often has to grind down healthy teeth. An implant stands on its own.

Implant or denture?

A removable denture can be hard to get used to, as it can rub and come loose. With implants you can instead have fixed teeth, or a denture that clips onto implants and stays firmly in place.

Do you accept referrals for implants?

Yes, we accept referrals for implant surgery and wisdom tooth surgery from other clinics. Many patients are referred to us because we offer comprehensive oral surgery, for example when wisdom teeth and root remnants need to be removed and replaced with implants, crowns or bridges.
